WindFire Introduces ECM Applications for Data Management, Object Management, and High Performance Import

August 1, 2001 - San Diego, CA—WindFire Technology today announced the availability of three enterprise content management (ECM) applications in its Xtorm product line, Xtorm Data Server, Xtorm Object Manager and Xtorm High Performance Import are the first available products in the company's strategy to deliver a comprehensive enterprise information management (EIM) suite of applications.

WindFire's ECM applications are targeted for production-level transaction processing environments. According to WindFire President Maurice Correa, "Xtorm Data Server, Xtorm Object Manager, and Xtorm High Performance Import are all designed as integrated and embeddable components. These applications provide several benefits: Developers can extend the capabilities of their existing business applications, and can deploy WindFire applications more quickly and at a significantly lower cost than traditional ECM applications."

The Xtorm Data Server (Xtorm DS) is the core component of the Xtorm EIM suite. Built on a J2EE, XML, Unicode and a web-based foundation, Xtorm DS provides access and management for virtually any structured and unstructured data, uniting all information into a single, virtual repository. It is designed as a high-performance, scalable, and secure virtual framework for managing information across large and disparate enterprise networks.

Xtorm Object Manager (Xtorm OM) is designed for large-scale, mission-critical initiatives that require management of large volumes of unstructured information assets, regardless of asset characteristics such as size, format, or origin. Supporting third party data capture technologies (e.g. scanning, e-forms), Xtorm OM provides management, delivery, and archiving functions such as indexing, organization, storage, retrieval, security and presentation, as well as powerful lifecycle management capabilities.

Xtorm High Performance Import (Xtorm HPI) enables high volume batch importing and indexing of records and/or objects into the Xtorm EIM environment. It is a high-speed bridge between Xtorm and existing data capture systems, back-file conversions from legacy systems, or any structured and unstructured data from other applications. Xtorm HPI is ideal for consolidating information from different data management systems into a single system.

WindFire's entire EIM suite is developed with industry standards such as J2EE, XML, Unicode, and web services. The suite will include additional applications such as hierarchical storage management, document management, enterprise report management (COLD) and WebDAV.

The company is targeting delivery of Xtorm DS, Xtorm OM and Xtorm HPI by Q2 2002.
