WindFire Introduces Xtorm Hierarchical Storage Manager
October 31, 2001 - San Diego, CA—WindFire
Technology today announced the availability of Xtorm Hierarchical
Storage Manager™ (Xtorm HSM), the fourth available product in the
company's strategy to deliver a comprehensive enterprise information
management (EIM) suite of applications. As a stand-alone application
or in consort with the Xtorm Data Server™, Xtorm Object
Manager™, and Xtorm High Performance Import™, Xtorm HSM
is a key component of efficient information management.
"Hierarchical storage management is an
increasingly critical issue," remarked WindFire President
Maurice Correa, "especially when information assets are
considered a strategic competitive resource and the most
important asset in an organization. The ability to
quickly access data across a geographically dispersed network
is fundamental to business efficacy. Our product makes it
easy, secure, and highly scalable."
Xtorm HSM manages multiple disparate storage
entities as a virtual storage environment. Delivering fast
and reliable access to mission-critical data, Xtorm HSM is
completely transparent to storage-intensive applications.
It automatically stores data on the most appropriate media
to meet storage, access and retention requirements, without
administrator or operator intervention. With built-in intelligent
mirroring, redundancy and data caching, Xtorm HSM provides 24/7
information availabilitycritical for an enterprise disaster
recovery strategy.
WindFire's entire EIM suite is developed with
industry standards such as J2EE, XML, Unicode, and web services.
XHSM is scheduled to ship in December, 2002.
