WindFire Announces Document Management and WebDAV Applications
April 1, 2002 - San Diego, CA—WindFire
Technology today announced the availability of Xtorm
Document Manager®
(Xtorm DM) and Xtorm WebDAV® (Xtorm DAV), the
fifth and sixth components of the company's comprehensive
enterprise information management (EIM) suite of
applications. In conjunction with the company's data
management, object management, hierarchical storage
management, and high performance import applications, these
two new applications round out WindFire's enterprise content
management (ECM) product line.
WindFire's EIM applications, which comprise
ECM, business process management and virtual repository
management, are targeted for production-level transaction
processing environments. Designed as integrated and
embeddable components, WindFire applications afford several
benefits: Developers can extend the capabilities of existing
business applications, and deployment is much quicker and
less costly than traditional EIM applications.
Xtorm Document Manager provides a full range
of functions including version control, check-out/check-in,
audit, history and retention schedules. In contrast with
workgroup or project-oriented products, Xtorm DM is designed
to support large and extensive enterprise document
management initiatives, surpassing other solutions in speed,
scalability and overall performance.
Xtorm DAV (Web Distributed Authoring and
Versioning) provides standards-based access to Xtorm,
enabling safe file sharing while facilitating
interoperability and collaboration between users across a
dispersed network. Xtorm DAV enables users to access common
sets of file-oriented data, eliminating inconsistencies and
errors in the information while improving the efficiency of
the people working on shared data resources.
"By providing WebDAV access to our robust
object and document management capabilities, we continue to
build out on our vision of an enterprise information
management system that's more integrated, scalable, and
powerful that anything available in the market today,"
remarked WindFire President Maurice Correa.
WindFire's Xtorm DM and Xtorm DAV are
scheduled to release December 5, 2002.
